Grand Opening Celebration: Friday, October 9th @ 2pm
Rainier Place at Edmonds Community College celebrates its grand opening!
New student housing project fills up before schools starts and proves demand for housing needs at community college campus.
(Seattle, WA) – Edmonds Community College (EDCC), in partnership with Lorig and the National Development Council, is celebrating the grand opening of Rainier Place this Friday, October 16th at 2:00pm in the building’s community room. The Edmonds Community College Jazz Band will be performing, and a short program with speakers from EDCC, and the development team will commence the celebration.
Despite downturn in the market rate apartment sector, the demand for student housing is soaring at Edmonds Community College. Rainier Place began pre-leasing 180 beds last May and throughout the summer. All but 3 beds have been leased to date and the leasing staff has created a waiting list for specific apartment styles that are no longer available.
“We couldn’t be happier with the success of Rainier Place,” says Luke Botzheim, Housing Director at Edmonds Community College. “Having an on-campus housing option for our students is going to strengthen our recruiting efforts both locally and internationally.”
Rainier Place is four-stories tall and provides housing for 180 students in fully furnished apartments each with kitchens, bathrooms, cable TV and wireless Internet access. The apartment building includes 37 four-bedroom units, nine two-bedroom units and nine studio units with the option for five to be double occupancy. The 2nd and 3rd floor have a common study space and the first floor includes a community room for social and community events.
Lorig is the developer and property manager for Rainier Place in partnership with The National Development Council, a non-profit development organization. The architect for the project is Mithun and the contractor is W. G. Clark.
